“Indiana Heritage Travel”
While perusing “Indiana Heritage Travel,” you’ll find restaurants, parks, theaters, shops, inns, museums, and other public sites to experience. Once you find an interesting option, the website has data about the location, history, hours of operation, and contact information.
You can research prospective sites in a number of ways. You can search by Theme such as Attractions, Museums, Dining, Shopping, Scenic Walks, etc; Trip type such as Arts & Culture, Family Outings, Treat Yourself, Day Trips, etc; or by County. Just pick an offering of interest, and begin your exploration into Indiana’s heritage.
For instance, for those traveling through Terre Haute on the National Road, the website recommends the Clabber Girl Museum, Bake Shop, and General Store. The building is the 1892 Romanesque Revival administration building for Hulman & Company makers of Clabber Girl Baking Powder. The museum explores 100 years of company and community history. The Bake Shop serves up breakfast, lunch, and bakery items. The General Store features a variety of cooking and Indiana themed gifts.
There also is a Museum section about Anton “Tony” Hulman Jr., grandson of the company founder, who purchased the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in 1945 and made numerous changes to build the event known as the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” Museum visitors will see an Indy racecar on display, as well as other memorabilia from the famous speedway.
The “Indiana Heritage Travel” website started with a 25-site sampling of places to see, eat, visit, and explore. New destinations will be added each month. So, the next you’re setting in your favorite chair wondering “What’ll We Do?” Visit “Indiana Heritage Travel,” and discover something new or old to tickle your fancy.
